Toni Ukachukwu, a leader in African aviation and tourism, has received a significant honor.
He was named one of Africa’s 100 Most Impactful People in Travel and Tourism for 2025.
This award celebrates his work in promoting sustainable and inclusive tourism development across the continent.
Ukachukwu’s dedication to fostering collaboration, empowering youth, and championing sustainable practices has resulted in increased cross-border partnerships and tangible improvements within the industry. His vision focuses on ensuring tourism benefits local communities while preserving cultural heritage and natural environments. Ghana Invites Global Investors to Develop Sustainable Tourism
Ghana is actively seeking foreign investment to boost its tourism sector.
The Tourism Minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, is leading the charge, emphasizing partnerships that will showcase Ghana’s rich culture and natural beauty while aligning with national development goals.
Recent talks with the Tourvest Integrated Tourism Group focused on creating unique and immersive tourist experiences. The collaboration aims to improve infrastructure, create jobs for Ghanaians, and train local workers, ensuring the project benefits local communities.
Tourvest’s commitment to sustainable tourism, including employing local staff and supporting community development projects, aligns perfectly with Ghana’s vision for responsible growth in the sector. Their goal is to establish Ghana as a premier destination for authentic and culturally sensitive tourism.
Ghana’s Kotoka Airport: New Air Traffic Control Tower Nearing Completion
Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport (KIA) is undergoing a significant upgrade.
A new, state-of-the-art Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower is nearing completion, currently at 80% finished. This represents a major investment in improving air travel safety and efficiency. The government aims to establish KIA as a leading aviation hub in West Africa, and this new tower is a central part of that strategy.
The tower itself offers enhanced radar surveillance, better communication systems, and improved safety protocols. Beyond the tower, broader improvements are underway, including upgraded data systems for better flight coordination and a modernized passenger information system. This system will centralize passenger data, enabling streamlined analysis by security agencies like the Ghana Immigration Service. This will improve security and expedite arrival processes for passengers.
These improvements will create a smoother and more efficient travel experience for all. This is excellent news for the MICE industry, as it makes Ghana a more attractive destination for international conferences and events. The modernization of KIA demonstrates a commitment to enhancing infrastructure and the overall travel experience within Africa’s MICE sector.
That’s it for today.
