Nigeria and Egypt Enhance BASA with New Routes and 5th Freedom Traffic Rights
Nigeria and Egypt have strengthened their aviation ties.
They signed a new agreement to increase the number of flights between the two countries.
This means more routes and more frequent flights connecting major cities.
The agreement includes new routes between Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, and Nigerian cities such as Kano, Lagos, and Abuja.
The enhanced agreement allows airlines from both countries to carry passengers between points beyond Nigeria and Egypt.
This is known as “5th freedom traffic rights,” and it opens up more travel options.
The deal will likely improve trade and tourism between the two nations.
More flights mean easier travel for business and leisure, benefiting both economies.

Mandela Day 2025: Hospitality Industry Unites to Fight Hunger with #67000litres Campaign
Chefs with Compassion is organizing its sixth annual #67000litres campaign for Mandela Day 2025.
This initiative brings together the hospitality industry – restaurants, hotels, culinary schools, and food producers – to combat hunger. The goal is ambitious: preparing over 100,000 litres of soup, feeding more than 400,000 people.
Businesses can participate in various ways. These include donating ingredients or resources, hosting soup-making events at their venues, supporting community kitchens, or organizing team-building cooking sessions using rescued food. Several sponsorship packages are available, ranging from smaller contributions to larger, more involved experiences with celebrity chefs.
The campaign aims to raise R1 million to support its year-round operations. Past efforts have yielded impressive results, with over 450,000 litres of soup donated since 2020. Key industry players, including several large poultry producers and prominent culinary institutions, are already on board for 2025.
