IMEX Frankfurt 2025: Record Buyers & Global MICE Leaders Connect

IMEX Frankfurt 2025 is already drawing global attention with a record number of buyers confirmed and a strong presence from hotel giants and emerging players across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

High-budget buyers—some with spending power over $10 million—will be at the centre of the action, seeking long-term partnerships and securing early bookings. Hotel brands are set to pitch their latest offerings, while regional participants aim to scale their visibility in the global MICE marketplace.

Hosted buyers will benefit from curated experiences, including personalized networking opportunities and pre-arranged meetings designed for efficiency and meaningful engagement. IMEX is focusing on impact, not just foot traffic.

The event also promises newsworthy updates, including the launch of a global convention bureau and deep dives into sector trends through 150+ seminars. Discussions will span everything from logistics and AI to sustainable travel—a timely mix for an industry looking toward its future.

Ikogosi Resort: Aiming for 90% Occupancy with Expanded MICE & Leisure Offerings

Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort and Conference Center in Ekiti State is setting its sights high with a target of reaching 90% occupancy. Currently running at a healthy 60%, the resort is outpacing many hospitality establishments in Nigerian cities like Lagos and Abuja.

To close that remaining 30%, the resort is expanding both its leisure and MICE offerings. Glocient Hospitality, the operator, is actively partnering with tour operators to draw in more urban dwellers craving nature and calm. An expansion from 60 to 92 rooms is on the cards, particularly to accommodate growing weekend demand.

Security remains one of the resort’s strongest selling points. The stable environment of Ekiti State and close cooperation with local security agencies give visitors confidence in choosing the location for both business and leisure stays.

Known for its unique natural warm springs and growing reputation in the meetings and events market, Ikogosi Resort is building on solid foundations to shape itself into a leading hospitality force in Nigeria.

Johannesburg Hosts Africa’s Youth Tourism Innovation Summit 2025

Johannesburg is set to host the 7th Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit and Challenge from June 24 to 26, 2025. Originally scheduled for Nairobi, the summit has been relocated due to unexpected changes. The event brings together a wide range of voices in the tourism space, from young emerging leaders to investors, policymakers, and government representatives. It’s a rare opportunity for dialogue and collaboration focused on the future of tourism on the continent.

Organised by Africa Tourism Partners, the UN World Tourism Organization, and BDO—with support from South African Tourism and Johannesburg Tourism—the summit aims to encourage creative thinking and innovation in tourism. The agenda tackles issues that matter for the next generation of tourism: technology, artificial intelligence, start-up support, local community engagement, and inclusive industry practices.

The conference will also feature an exhibition, giving participants a platform to connect, promote their businesses, and explore fresh opportunities. Attendees can expect impactful networking, practical career guidance, and access to venture capital interest.

Held during South Africa’s Youth Month, the timing adds depth and relevance. It’s a stage for youth to not only be seen but to be heard—and to shape the future of African tourism in their own words and vision.

That’s it for today.
