Kenya Removes Visa Requirements to Enhance Intra-Africa Business and Tourism Travel
Kenya has eliminated visa requirements for all African citizens, significantly easing travel within the continent.
This move, effective from mid-2025, is expected to stimulate business and tourism between Kenya and other African nations. Most Caribbean nations are also included in this policy. Somalia and Libya are excluded due to security considerations.
The simplified process eliminates the need for ETAs, paperwork, and visa fees for eligible travelers. Most visitors can now stay for up to two months, while East African Community members retain their existing six-month allowance. These changes are intended to support Kenya’s open skies policy and boost its tourism sector.
Further improvements include a new passenger information system for enhanced security and quicker border processing. Alongside this, Kenya recently introduced a digital nomad work permit and an electronic travel authorization for short transit stays, allowing for greater flexibility for travelers. These initiatives reflect Kenya’s commitment to seamless travel for various purposes, including business, tourism, and conferences across Africa.
