Uganda Airlines: From 4% to Top Entebbe Carrier in 5 Years

Uganda Airlines’ remarkable growth is a significant development for the African MICE sector.

In just five years, the airline has increased its revenue substantially, from Shs28 billion in 2019/20 to a remarkable Shs319 billion in 2023/24.

This impressive rise is directly linked to the airline’s expansion of its route network, now offering seventeen direct routes across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the UK. This improved connectivity makes it easier and more affordable for international delegates to attend events in Uganda.

Consequently, Uganda Airlines has become the leading carrier at Entebbe International Airport, holding a substantial 24% market share, up from a mere 4% in 2019. Further government investment promises more routes and new aircraft, suggesting a bright future for both the airline and Uganda’s MICE industry.
